In New York Delta airlines plane skids off runway

Another plane has skidded off the runway owing to bad weather, this time it's a Delta Airways plane which skidded off the runway at LaGuardia airport, New York.

The passenger plane had 127 passengers and 5 crew members on board who were helped off the plane by emergency officials.
The flight, Delta 1086, was attempting to land at LaGuardia after flying in from Atlanta but veered to the left shortly after making contact with the runway, it however avoided crashing into nearby Flushing Bay.
The plane was reported to be leaking fuel at a point, but emergency responders were able to stop the leak.

No serious injuries were reported, however two passengers were transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the airport has been closed but is expected to reopen at 19:00 local time. Meanwhile, planes en route LaGuardia have been diverted to nearby airports.

LaGuardia is one of the most difficult airports to land at in the US owing to its close proximity to three other busy airports.

Earlier in the week, a Turkish Airline plane had also skidded off the runway owing to bad weather at Tribhuvan International Airport stopping other flights from coming in as the plane blocked the runway.

Severe weather conditions in the United States has forced schools, businesses, and the US government to shut down temporarily.
