Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, which is home to Mauritius national carrier, Air Mauritius, emerged winner in the over 2 million passengers per year category.
Meanwhile, in the Best Airport by Region (under 2 million passengers per year), South Africa's
Upington Airport emerged winner.
Also Nairobi, Denpasar (Indonesia), Istanbul, Kingston, Jamaica, Damman (Saudi Arabia) and Saskatoon (Canada) were adjudged as having the most improved airports.
The award which measures what airports are doing the best job of putting a smile on travelers' faces conducted 550,000 in-depth passenger satisfactions surveys at more than 300 airports across 80 countries worldwide, last year.
Passengers were asked for their views on 34 key service indicators, including airport access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage and retail.
