S6 Edge
(Samsung)
The first time Samsung released a phone that has the Edge monicker was when it released the Samsung GALAXY Note Edge.
This
time around, Samsung is releasing two phones, one of which is carrying
the Edge monicker too,the Samsung GALAXY S6 and the GALAXY S6 Edge, but
the focus is on the latter.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge got recognized as the best new handset launched during MWC 2015 and we have decided to show the five ways it got that title.
Design
and Display- With the Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung successfully discarded
the tag of being the only smartphone maker with a plastic-body flagship
device. The phone, just like the regular Galaxy S6, marked a noticeable
departure from their predecessors in terms of the better-quality
materials used. It has a well crafted metal frame and glass rear which
is what a lot of users had been asking for, or even demanding, for
years. Interestingly, it looks a LOT better in the real world than it
does in the photos. The feel is completely different. As you would
expect, there is this cold and firm sensation that so many people love
to much. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is unique with its curved screen. The
two edges of the screen are slightly-curved, unlike Galaxy Note Edge
which has only one curved edge. The slopes of the Galaxy S6 Edge's
screen are also less defined and gentler than the edges of the Galaxy
Note Edge. The phone uses a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD
resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and an amazing 577 pixels per inch. The
screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, the toughest glass to
date. The thinner edge provides a stronger grip, and the slightly curved
screen is just so beautiful.
Fingerprint
Sensor- This has been upgraded from a “swipe” model to a “press” one.
This means that it will be much more accurate. Both Apple and Huawei
have proven that a touch fingerprint sensor is the way to go, and
Samsung has joined them.
The Cameras-
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge did not disappoint in the camera department, with
a design aimed at super-fast performance. The main camera is a 16
megapixels sensor equipped with a quick-responding F1.9 lens. It has IR
detect, fast motion, auto real-time HDR and virtual shot features,
amongst others. The camera can be quickly launched by double-tapping the
home button. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge also has a 5 megapixels
front-facing camera with F1.9 aperture for video calls and selfies.
Processor,
Software and Memory- The device uses an octa-core, 64-bit Samsung
Exynos processor comprising four cores clocked at 2.1GHz and another
four cores at 1.5GHz. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes with 3GB LPDDR4 RAM
and is available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models. The phone runs on
Samsung's custom software TouchWiz, which is based on Android 5.0
(Lollipop) mobile OS.
Lightning-fast
charging- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes with many great features, but its
quick-charging ability is worth a special mention. A 10-minute charge
of the integrated 2600mAh battery can support up to 4 hours of usage. It
also has wireless charging which works with any wireless pad available
in the market that supports WPC and PMA standards.
The
specs are very much what we anticipated from a high-end device,
released in 2015 by one of the market leaders. The company's expertise
in putting excellent hardware to work for the end user is undeniable and
we expect nothing short of a blazing fast experience with the image
output quality to match.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is
not yet available in Nigeria and there is no data on pricing and
availability for Nigeria, but when available, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is
expected to range from N165,000 to N250,000 at launch.
This
smartphone has the looks and the features good enough to help Samsung
wrestle back some share of the market from other top players, most
notably Apple.
Would you be getting a GALAXY S6 Edge when it becomes available in April 10, 2015?
