Dissenting
lecturers from the Lagos State
University (LASU) Faculty of
Education are delaying the conduct of the 2014 session examinations of the
institution's sandwich program.
Director
of Lagos State University External
System (LASUES), Prof. Olatunji Abanikanda, said this on Monday while speaking to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondents in Lagos.
Abanikanda
said some of the lectures refused to set examination questions at all while
others only succumbed after intense pressure.
He said
the unit has now decided to employ external experts to ensure that the
examinations hold.
"The
examination was delayed because some lecturers did not set their questions; but
we have decided to engage external experts to set the questions and we will
personally administer it," Abanikanda said.
"With
the plans on ground, we would hold the 2014 examinations this weekend."
The
director revealed that most of those frustrating the administration of the unit
are from the Faculty of Education.
Most of
the lecturers involved are those in the Faculty of Education, because they feel
the programme belongs to them and should be run as they wish,” he said.
Urging
student to be calm, the Director said his administration will put everything in
order.
He also
warned that lecturers who failed to submit their questions would not be paid.
