First Lady builds 360-bed female hostel at BUK... N100bn spent yearly on education — Sambo

Vice President Namadi Sambo has said the Federal Government spends 100 billion naira annually on educational projects at various universities in the country.

Sambo said this at the foundation-laying ceremony of a 360 beds female hostel block built by Dame Patience Jonathan at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

The Vice President also said N1.5 trillion from the Presidential Support Fund on education has been approved to meet the of tertiary institutions’ needs.


"Projects like this will continue to full all the Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions," Sambo said.

He said the Federal Government is determined to realise the Nigeria’s vision 2020, hence the special attention being paid to the education sector.

Sambo added that the award of billions of Naira to projects in tertiary institutions is part of the administration’s transformation agenda.

The foundation was also laid for the institution's Modern International Conference Centre at the ceremony.
